Power steering pump Q

I know I know, It's a Holden.

Ok I replaced the powersteering pump cause it was leaking(as usual). Now the mechanic told me it will be heavy for a while. It's been few days now and still very very heavy in parking or when the car is still. Do you think this is not normal? thanks fellas

It is possible that they couldn't or didn't bleed the system and until the air works its way out the steeriing could be a bit less power assisted. What car was it?

Grab ya trolley jack mate, jack the front end so that both tyres are off the ground. With the engine running turn lock to lock about 12 times every 3rd time hold the steering wheel against full lock for 2 sec's both ways . Drop it back on the ground & go for a drive. Hope that clears it up for ya pal....

Thanks for that boys. I'll try to do that today. I've been driving it like crazy just to make it softer! it's better than the first day but still heavy when I take a sharp turn.

I'll do the 3 times locks today, hope it works. If it didn't I'll just go to the mechanic again Monday.

It's a VT Clubsport
