Hi,

I am half way through changing a XD from a six to an eight. I am trying to reuse my six cylinder power steering pump on the V8, but I have now been told that it isn't possible to use the six cyl pump on an eight. Is this correct? I thought it only has to be run by a belt to work and therefore six or eight doesn't matter.

Anyway, any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.

Which pump do you have? The plastic case or the steel case? Both will go on but there are two different brackets. The steel case bracket is very easy to find at wreckers/pick a part etc. The other is not that common as most have ended up being replaced with steel case pumps.

I am using a plastic case pump on the steel case bracket using spacers under the three bolts(replaced with longer units). I did this due to being unable to locate correct bracket/financial problems.

I found a complete bracket and pump assembly online secondhand. Will go with that.
