Hey boyz, has anyone running one of those 'powerchips'
on their ECU's??? They claim that it will boost power from
139kws to 152kws and tourqe from 338 Nm to 365Nm on the
3.9L MPFI. They reckon if you get a gold chip then its even more (159kws) I reckon it sounds dodge. But those sorta gains would be excellent..

they do make a difference but not right to that extent, although not far off. any injecting timing re-programming makes a big difference, but as always a manual gearbox and multi point fuel injection is basically required to acheive these gains, a CFI 3sp wouldnt see much difference until high in the revs, in which case its not a $900 difference anyway

So if i brought one then id have almost the same engine as an EB XR6 - 161Kws vs 162kws?? They say these figures are from a car running a powerchip with standard setup.

sorry, they claim 159 not 161kws.. but still that would make my car faster than the 4.0L EB2 wouldnt it?

personally i wouldnt trust a place that cant even spell Dynamometer correctly. there is no such thing as a Dynometer
quote; We can only refund money for a Powerchip if the customer proves using a certified Porsche Cup Dynometer that the claims were not met.

look it up on google.com , i cant seem to find one, good luck getting a refund.
anyone here have access to the porsche cup grounds and testing facilities by any chance?

Yeah forget about the Powerchip, ive never heard of anyone ever gaining any noticable power with them. More often than not people actually notice a decrease in power and fuel economy.

The best chip to get would be one tuned real-time on an actual dyno. Unichip works this way.


And theres nothing wrong with the EEC computer, there are 8 and 9 sec 1/4 mile Mustangs in the US running a standard computer modified with an 'EEC Tuner'.

Just interested, what is the best chip u can get for ur car eg MoTeC, and also the most practical, that being not 10,000 dollar.

So many brands like Unichip, and Powerchip, are they really just the same?

dont confuse power with power transfer, or speed

the powerchip will most certainly increase kW and torque, by making a more consistant and stronger mixture of fuel...this will be noticed in power.....but it doesnt mean speed

speed comes from weight, gearing, type of engine, etc...

no a powerchip by no means will mean u could beat an XR6, they have tickford motors in them with basically heavy duty everything, better fuel injection, etc..
