Problem with the box

Anyone had the problem in the EL's (auto) especially the XR8's with it kicking on gear change i have reason to believe it's the solenoid but i ain't no expert, anyone else had this problem?.. if so post how much it cost to fix and details

could be the trottle postion swictch.

on the autos (well eb's, not sure of el's) there is two switches on the throttle body called throttle position switch..TPS.

One switch sends signal to the ecu for engine management, the other is the signal for the gearbox.

The quickest way to check this switch is to swap the plugs around on the switches themselves.

Disconnect one switch and plug it into the other plug, and vice versa.

This may fix your gearbox problem, but now car might not idle properly and run a bit rough.

If there is no difference in gearbox shifts then this is not the problem

if the switch is crook its best to replace both the switches at the same time (theyve both done the same amount of work). i think the switches are around $130 each!?
