Problems with XF crossflow

My Question is this my son and is friend have come to visit me which was a 3 hour drive. Now when he starts up his falcon it ratles someting shocking. It sounds like it might be tappet rattle. So he pulled the tappet cover off. We started it up to find out were the rattle was, but I noticed there was no oil geting pump into the rockers. Is that fairly normal at a idle or not??
About three seemed to be pumping up oil, but the rest are dry why is this so??

Re: Problems with XF crossflow

My guess would be low oil or carbon/crap blocking the oil pathways....

Re: Problems with XF crossflow

It does not seem to have any oil pressure, does this mean just the pump has died or the liffters are shot as well?

Re: Problems with XF crossflow

could be some crud blocking you push rods, or oil pump is worn pretty bad, does it pump up oil if you rev it a bit more?
