Question Rebuilders in ACT / Queanbeyan

Hey people, I'm new here (obviously) and was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of the best place around Canberra to get a full rebuild for my tired 289?

I've looked up a few places, but don't really know anything about them, such as Graeme Silk racing or QIM reconditioners in Queanbeyan, and Phillip Head Services (in Phillip).

Can someone let me know if they've had any good / bad dealings with these or other shops around Canberra?

Cheers.

Are you after a stock rebuild or a performance upgrade?

Probably a little bit of both - I'd love to up the grunt a bit, without spending the earth.

Re: Rebuilders in ACT / Queanbeyan

I've heard some good things about Graeme Silk, but expensive.

I can't recommend Engine Rebuilders or Berco. Bad experiences had by myself and some mates of mine.

Might be worthwhile phoning Jakes Performance, and see who he would recommend.

I'm getting a mate who works from home to build my windsor for me.

Re: Rebuilders in ACT / Queanbeyan

I lived in Queanbeyan and worked in the automotive industry for quite some time. The only person I would let touch my engine is G.Silk. Talk to anyone in NSW who is serious about drag racing, and bring up the name Silk, all people will talk about is how he is a perfectionist with everything he does. Its either done the right way the first time or not at all.

Re: Rebuilders in ACT / Queanbeyan

Thanks heaps EBXR & 01fm - I'll probably have a word with Jakes performance, but word seems to be pointing me to Silk. Might have to go out and see him for a chat while I keep saving my pennies..
