evening all!

havent seen this posted anywhere so hope i aint askin somethin that been answered b4....

i been looking in the trader and all over the net but im finding it hard to find out where i can purchase reco'd e-series engines 6cyl or 8.. (not that i can find) in melbourne area.

my cfi has pretty much shat itself from high km and now a head gasket so id rather take her out and put a mpfi EA, EB or ED 6cyl depending on prices and work required.
i seen plenty of EA's in the trader, wrecked but id like to suss out what id be lookin at for a reco'd.

Your looking at around $2000 for a reco from places like repco or RPM engines.

As DansEdgli has said, around $2000 for a tall motor (basically a complete motor) from repco etc but thats exchange, you'll have to give them the motor you take out of your car once its out.
If you want to go to MPFI you'll then to get the required items for the conversion from a wrecker or if your lucky in the for sale section here. Expect around $250-300 for this
Then if your not planning on doing it all yourself I'd expect around a day or two worth of labour (around $400-500) from a mechanic, I know it probably wont take that long to do but expect the worse.

funny you should mention RPM as I work there!!! i would'nt recommend a long motor from there, the heads are not of the best quality as borderline parts sometimes get used in them. short motors are OK.

You'd be better off in the long run getting a EF, EL or an AU engine. Granted, there's a bit more work involved, but surely you should be able to get all the parts and have it installed for between 2-3 grand. Lot more potential in those engines, especially the AU's...

I was SPEEEWING that I didn't do something similar with my car when the HG went. Ah live and learn.
