im trying to replace the key locks and ignition barrel on my escort because someone stole a copy of the keys to my car ... anyhoo i got another escort in which i got the door locks off with no problem but i cant get the ignition barrel out ...ive unscrewed the little screws on either side of the casing and i was told it should come out easy after that ... BUT ... it doesnt... ... i was working in complete darkness with a mirror and torch trying to find another way to get it out .. sounds odd but you gotta do what you gotta do ... when i found a little groove at the top. it looks like a clip but it wouldnt unclip i tried pushing the clip in, i tried pushing it left and right and it wont budge ..... apparently its the same as the ignition barrel in my brother in laws xr but he cant remember how its meant to come out. after half an hour and 2 huntsmans i threw in the towel. if anyone out there has any ideas i'd appreciate em! thanks
there should be a little hole(from memory @6 o'clock looking straight at it) which u poke a pin up to compress the retaining spring, as tibbo said key in accessory or ignition position and pull
