i want to remove my alternator, but i see that its on the same belt as the mechanical fan

what can i do? is theyre a smaller belt?

also.. in the pic below, thats the airconditioning thing isnt it?

Your XF Engine Bay yeah?? Yep thats the airconditioning...it has its own belt going to the centre pulley right?

why did you remove your altenator? are you putting in thermos? thats why you need the smaller belt or what?

Get a bit of string around the pulleys then measure its length. Go to the car parts place and ask for a belt that size. You may need an idler wheel for adjustment, as tension is controlled by the position of the alternator I think.

yeah we just measured the length from the crank to the fan, then bought a belt closeish to that size.. rock'n'roll
