gday guys i have the same car as my mum ef futura, and she is trading her car in however she has a leather bound xr6 steering wheel and i have the old crappy rubber and i was wondering how hard it would be to change over, keeping in mind the airbags. help is appreciated. as i dont want to be chewing airbags.

yeah, can be done, all you need is the right tools.

I havent done it myself, but im pretty sure all you need to do is disconnect the battery, remove the airbag cover and undo the screws to remove the airbag itself, then the wheel should be easy enough to get off. Then just reverse the procedure to put it all back together.

If you're not keen on doing it yourself, a good mechanic, or even Ford, will do it for you.

If u undo everything and the wheel is still too hard to get off.
take it to ford, they'll get it off quick smart :)

just checked my specs and disabling the airbag is done by disconnecting the battery. just dont turn anything on while the airbag is disconnected otherwise it can trigger a fault within the srs ecm
