removing the side strips on my ghia?

Hi, i have a EA Fairmont Ghia, and some of the silver on the rubber-side strips is a little tatty, does anyone know the most easiest/effective way of removing the rubber completely? .. i have seen glimpses of some without the rubber, and looked alright from a distance :\. .. do you ppl think it gives them a dodgy look? (Mines white)

thanks.

I think they're just held on with double sided adhesive tape so should not be hard to take off. It definitely can look good if done right, with the front mouldings colour coded to match.
