Im installing enw tie rods in my EA, and have come to the problem of removing the tie rods from the steering rack. What looks to be either a bent washer or flange seems to be clamping the area which i need to grip in order to un screw from the steering rack.

What is the process of undoing the tie rod from the rack?

Also, the new tierods seem to be much thicker than the current ones and their thread wont fit in the tie rod ends (im getting new ones though). Are there two sizes avalable for the tie rods?

After looking at your pictures.....This is called the tie rod ball housing, the other end is called the tie rod end.
To remove you first turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction of the end/tie rod you want to remove, then remove the tie rod end.
Hold the shaft going into the steering rack and then unwind the tie rod ball housing, this could be tight, but DON"T let it beat you.
Presto!!!!!!!!
