replace schradar valve core

I have a 2003 crown vic interceptor and the low pressure hose schrader valve core is leaking. I bought new cores and caps and the tool to replace it with. but I can not get the core out does anyone know if you can replace them on this year car ? the tool is a screw driver type with a large tool on one side and a small on the other side, and from trying to get it out now the tool spins in the handle.

Re: replace schradar valve core

Sounds like a bad tool. The schraders thread in just like a tire schrader does. Did you recover the r-134a from the system?

Re: replace schradar valve core

the system is empty I turned on the a/c and it did not work so I got a can of Freon and put it in and it worked for about a day then stopped checked the system an it was empty there were no caps on it when I bought the car and I put some wd 40 on the valves to free the valves the high pressure side still had the wd 40 in it the low side was empty and dry. bought the new valves and new caps.

Re: replace schradar valve core

This is the sort of tool you should use:
Dual Size Schrader Valve Core Remover Installer 1 4 5 16"Heavy Duty AC HVAC Tool | eBay

or
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Dual-Sch...-/350583498910

as this will allow you to stop any small quantity of remaining gas from escaping.

I assume you are using a tyre valve one like this:

Might still work but...

Re: replace schradar valve core

If you use the tire type, you will get a surprise if there's refrigerant left.
