Replacment S5 solenoid
Ok - from the other thread on the BTR95 boxes (full of awesome info - thanks guys).... Somone said that you can replace the S5 solenoid in E series models with one from an AU. This gives a mechanical adjusrment to it's actuation as opposed to the electrical adjustment that is mentioned in the other thread. Then somone mentioned that this is the same solenoid used in a VR TH700, which is cheaper than buying it from Ford.
Given that my S5 is stuffed (otherwise I would just be performing the electrical mod), can anyone confirm if the VR solenoid is the same as the AU S5, or is it the same as the earlier non-adjustable ones? If it's the same, does anyone know what to ask for at the Holden counter, as in what is this solenoid called in a TH700?
Also, somone mentioned that you had to turn the adjuster exactly 15 degress. Clockwise or anti-clockwise? And if we wanted to firm things slightly how much more?
Sorry to ask so many questions. But it's great to see some more info and fiddling going on with these transmissions..
Cheers - Patman.
