hi guys,

the rev limiter in my eb kicks in at around 5200-5300 which is annoying me because it seems too early. I've heard that it should be 5500, 5600 or even 5750. And I've also heard that some EA's are limited at 6000 or no limiter at all.

anyway what i want to know is there any easy way to increase the rev limiter or get rid of the limiter. or would you need a chip to do this?

Chiptorques do it. At 600 bucks it is kind of expensive unless you want the extra tuning. There might be some other shortcuts out there as well.

Just make sure your engine is in very good nick before you go spinning it at 6000rpm

theres was a chip forsale on ebay to get rid of the rev limiter and i think it only went for $5

$5 damn thats cheap.. i'll have a look for dodgy stuff on ebay.

lol my limiter is too low nick.. needs to be about 500rpm higher then i would be happy.

with what i have been reading on ford forums, if i had a E series i wouldnt want to push it more than 3000rpm, i have never heard of so many faults with 1 model...

3000 is probably a bit low, I wouldnt be spinning the engine past 5000 rpm unless you've had some strengthinging / balancing done. At 5000 rpm your engine is doing 83 revolutions per SECOND... thats damn quick.

What faults, the engine is pretty solid besides the head gasket problems but even then thats only at around 200,000kms. But really, the factory balance is only good for around 5000-5500rpm and unless you have head porting and cam you probably won't gain anything reving it that high anyway.

i have a cam in my car... i think if i can rev it up to 5600-5750ish it would make a decent difference in my car instead of having to change at around 5100. i only rev it high for drags and stuff though.

p.s. i couldn't find any cheap dodgy things on ebay

neb my old ea revved to past like 7000rpm.
doing bournouts ect
i had the needle off the scale and pointing straight down (on s-pack dash)

and i never blew anything. did it at least 10 times during the length of 1 year (owning the car)
few times missing the 2nd to 3rd in dragz ect.

id love a rev limiter at 5,500 rpm so u can jjust floor it doing standstills ect and not worry about wrecking anything plus sounds cool too and flames ect..
