Rip Off or Good Price?

I am car shopping at the moment for a newer car. I saw an EF today for $10990 which I thought was pretty steep. It had 167,000k's, 16in mags and a spoiler. I test drove it and when I started it, it took a while to find idle and was a bit rough for a few mins do you think it just needs a service and tune up or is it more major? I know my mates EF wagon did something similar when the head gasket was blown.

The car looks well looked after, well it's immaculate really. I'm just a bit apprehensive to go further with those sort of k's on it. I was looking for something with <100,000k's. What do you guys think?

I know this part should be in the for sale section, but I'll put it here as well:

1990 EA II Fairmont Ghia
Stark White
265,300k's
5spd man
Hurricane Headers
2.5in Redback Exhaust
ED rear garnish/lights
New rear tyres (fronts due for replacement!)
Motor replaced at 258,000k's
Brand new water pump
All usual ghia extras
It has a small dent under the left hand tail light.

I'm looking for about $3500-$4000

So if anyone is interested let me know. I'd rather sell it to a member than trade it to a shonky car dealer. As much as I want to get rid of it, I still love it and would like it to go to a good home :)

If your keen ask to get it looked over by a QUALIFIED mechanic if your not able to check under the car. "Usually" $10,990 means it pretty bloody good car, if there isnt anything else you can spot that would make this car less value, eg - Rego, loosness in steering, whining box or diff, sloppy auto etc. then go for it. If you have got worries about the head, and your mechanic agrees, then get the seller to drop the price or pay for the repair. Either way sounds like a pretty good vehicle. But these days you can find a good EF/EL for $5500-$8000 thats not been a taxi

PS...Escorts arent computer controlled and are easier to work on. No offence man.

And there has never been a truer quote than fron SiX_iN A_Row....LOL
