whats that fitting called on the rocker cover near the oild filler cap on an ea, with a hose coming off it, and whats it do?
i used to have these like backfires in the exhaust when idling on gas when warmed up, now with a bit of plastic around the barb it must block off vacumm or egr whatever it is and no more lumpy shit idle on gas.

Just pull it, Carefully, as they get brittle with age/heat.

I had to get mine out by hitting it into the rocker cover, as I snapped it by trying to pull it out.

Give this a go if you can't pull it out.

pull the centre of it out and then take out the gasket type thing seperately
helps when putting it back in to put them in seperately too

Most likely you will have to buy a new gasket regardless of how careful you are - these things set like rock.

pcv valve, sounds bad for performance.
and if it were stuck open would i get a vacumm loss at idle?

What it does is take the crankcase fumes out into the throttle body and disposes of them through the exhaust..usually if this goes you will have an oily buildup around the pcv grommet.
