Can anyone tell me if there is any significant difference in height and shape between a EA/EB model 4.0 OHC rocker cover (dark grey one) and a XR6 say 96-99 model rocker cover.
Cheers for any help,
Simon

2 different rocker covers, EA is the finned job, EF is more of a molded look, I had both cars/engines in my garage and the EF rocker cover looks slightly lower.
I'd go out and measure them both, but I have just got rid of the EA!
Cheers guys. The one on my motor is the finned(?) one. Its not like full deep finned but I know its the one you are talking about. On the front it has 4.0 OHC writing.
My mechanic said the reason it doesnt have the XR6 rocker cover is because it sits too high and the bonnet wont close so he fitted the earlyer model one.
Im not sure if its the rocker cover or just the height of the motor in the engine bay. The motor might sit higher in my ute than in the cars it came from, hence the reason the bonnet wont close.
OR the mechanic might have just got a 4ltr normal I6 and not a XR6. If he has done that I will be having words!
Cheers, Simon

Unless Im very wrong Im sure an El head will fit onto an EA block and the rocker covers will fit no probs at all, I am also pretty sure the tickford engines have a large T stamped onto the front of the head (well they did in EB/ED anyway, not sure about later ones) so might pay to check.
I had a good look over the engine today, in the car. But I had no idea what to look for. Got some numbers to ID it but apparently not enough. I went to the local Ford dealer and he said I needed at least 11 digits. I got 10. It was a bit hard to make them out.

EF/L XR 6's don't have anything stamped on the head, i'm not sure of an easy way to check the donk aside from checking the comp (XR's are higher than normals). if you find the part number on the head, i'll look at mine (EF XR6) and see what the part number is if you like.
Uteman - Check the front of the head for a "T" caste into it.....
From memory all the XR6 heads that've come from tickford have this, whereas base model heads don't.

That's strange, I've got a mate at work with an EFXR6, with a "T" cast into the head....
