Rotten Eggs

I think I have just smelt comfirmation that my cat is stuffed, Im getting the infamous smell of rotten eggs when the car is warm accompanied by lack of power.

How long have people driven around like this? I have many more things I want to do to my car before having to shell out for a new cat ( would prefer to do entire system in one hit ) like th 4.0 conversion, new Rotors etc

And please, no replies telling me to knock the guts out of the damn thing

Re: Rotten Eggs

Sometimes this can be caused by fuel high in sulphur, have you tried changing petrol brands?

Re: Rotten Eggs

Oh by the way, do you think this could be causing my strange power loss on restart?

eg, drive into town, turn car off, 5 mins, restart, no power, drive another 10mins, turn car off, 5mins, restart, power is back

Re: Rotten Eggs

Hmmm, I have funny power loss issues in my AU, similar to yours, if I drive, turn off, turn on again and drive the car has much more go.

I've also smelt the rotten egg smell a couple of times too.

Re: Rotten Eggs

Sounds like the cat it partially blocked or fallen to pieces & blocked up the rest of the system.

Re: Rotten Eggs

whats this black soot out the exhaust meaning the cat is stuffed? my car does that, i thought it was just soot in the exhaust being dribbled out with the condensation of a cold exhaust system.
