I've been working on a circuit, which will act as an RPM switch, and has an adjustable output.
This would be ideal for BBM conversions etc, and you can also play with the point at which it switches, by a potentiometer.
The circuits need to be tested, so if there is anyone out there volunteering to test one, email me. Also email me for more details / costs.
The RPM switch is a stand alone unit, which can be run off either the coil (-) wire, or the tach output on the Falcons (still to be tested).
It will allow the use of a BBM on an EA-ED without changing the ECU to suit.
I have just tested my prototype on my cortina, and is all functioning well, I just need to try it on the EB and see how it goes using the tach signal instead of the coil (-)
The set rpm point is adjustable, so BBM users can tweak the point at which the BBM switches runners to optimise performance, ie have it switch either higher or lower than the usual 3800 rpm.
The unit provides an output of 1/2 amp, which switches to ground when the engine exceeds the set rpm point, the same output the later model ECU's provide to switch the BBM.
The unit can also have an optional second stage, which can be set to provide a shift light or red line light / buzzer. This is an option.
I wont be selling kits at this stage, as i dont think there would be enough demand to get pcb's made.
I will make units up and provide them complete ready to wire in, once i've done some futher testing, and also someone/s else thats willing to try the first one or couple.
