Im sick to death of my yellow headlights. There was a very good thread a while go about how to clean them up, but I cant seem to find it? anyway, I have noticed ppl are polishing them, but are you polishing the outside of the lens or the inside? From what I can tell the yellow colour is on the inside, how do you pull them apart? And how do you seal them again to put them back together???
Im also assuming that you have to remove the inner guard bit to get to the headlights out, is this correct?
nah the inner guard stays...
remove the indicator.. 1 * Phillips head screw
4 10mm bolts hold the head light in
Take the grille out .. 2*10mm on the top .. one 10mm on each side toward the bottom of the light
To remove the lense you undo the clips ;; you 'll see them .. holding the lense on .. light sandpaper then a polish then run a bead of sicaflex/silicon onto the lense before you reclip it all both together.. Sweet
EDIT: typo

His signature says RIP EA ,,owner of EL Fairmont... I thought he had an EL now so my post is for EF-EL
I'm assuming that the EF/EL headlights are plastic then? What can be done to get the greeny tinge off the EA headlights, as they are glass. I tried a good clean with soapy water and a scourer, made em a bit better but they still don't look as clear as I want em...
I'm not sure what's available in Australia, but in the US there is a kitchen cleanser called Bon-Ami that won't scratch glass (other regular cleansers WILL). Great on windshields, then put Rain-X on after. Should be okay for glass headlights. For yellowed plastic headlights, people have used chrome polish with success also either by hand or with an electric buffer. http://www.therangerstation.com/headlightlens.htm

sorry tibbo, I stand corrected. but once again the best way to clean them is rub them with fine wet and dry and buff them, done it heaps of times and they come up like new. You dont even have to take the headlights out .
