Hi guys,

I just picked up 2 blank spare keys for my EB Series 2 Fairmont Ghia.
I dont have a manual for the car so I was just wondering if someone knows how to encode the keys?

I know how to do it on an AU but ive been told it was different on the E series.

- turn the ignition to accessories
- press the boot release button (on the dash, not the remote) 3 times quickly. This will put it in learning mode
- press a button on the new remote to download the codes to it. The door locks will opperate 2 times to confirm the codes have been downloaded.
- To finish, turn ignition off and check the new keypads.

It took me a few times to actually get it to work, so if it doesn't work first time, just do it again.

Ah ok thats the remote, but dont you have to encode the actual key for the imobaliser? You have to for the AU's, and the guy at Ford said you had to but he didnt know how....

Got me???? I got a key actually cut at a shopping centre just to try it out & funnily enuff the car starts no worries......
Security coded me thinks not.

Ahhh according to the god book if its a different key you have to leave it in the ignition with the key turned on for 1/2 an hour, this way the smartlock module downloads the code

Is that the same way you code the remotes for an EL Fairmont Ghia???

The first encoded keys in a falcon came in AU1 update. In a smartlock equipped vehicle you can have your keys cut & away you go. The 1/2 hour download in an eb is only required if you replace the igntion lock assy.
