Hey guyz... Im getting REALLY annoyed with my car.. something is wrong and i just cant put my finger on it. I have an EB1 wagon, with 4spd auto and 3.08 diff (i fort it was a 2.92) Its been converted to MPI and has pacemakers, 2.5 inch redback exhaust with one muff. Its running an ED XR cam and has a K&N pod filter.
For some reason, i just cant spin the wheels on take-off. Ive heard that a stock 4.0L auto with 3.08 can do this. Mine cant unless im turning a corner. Im thinking i may have a faulty ECU coz i keep getting a code 22 (MAP) even when ive tried 3 different MAP sensors (yes, i deleted the codes after each try) I cant find any disconnected vac lines but the car seems to be running OK apart from a lack of take off power.. Everything has been changed when i did the MPI conversion. New dizzy, sparks, coil, leads, fuel pump, filter, etc... Can the ECU be defective like this??
I should be able to spin the wheels with this setup right??

Better if you can't spin the wheels - saves on tyre wear and ensures maximum accelleration.

I could only spin them on takeoff (no brake) sometimes. Usually with power on and running premium. I had an ED. Im not sure if my diff was 3.08 or 3.23. Only single spinner tho. And i was only running 195's. My girlfriend's ED can only spin them up sometimes too. (When i drive lol.) Hers is an EX cop tho and runs on tickford gas and regular ULP.
Dont you have a wagon? Wouldn't that make it harder.

Yeah, wagon... Hmmm i was told that a stock 4.0L could do it so i guess mine is ok... Still, take off is shit in my car >:(

One of my mates has an AU3 XR8 auto and it barely gives a chirp on a hard launch. By contrast, my little brothers XD four speed with crappy retreads will spin in first and second in the dry and in ANY gear in the wet. I wouldn't worry unless it feels like its got something obviously wrong with it.

My oldies wagon can arc them up on takeoff (as i told you at the last meet) but I cant get my car to do it ever.

they run 215 tyres, i run 225's.

I honestly think its cos of the 3.9, its pickup is crap compared to the 4.0, but my car will beat the wagon anytime cos of its better midrange/top end.

I reckon when and if you get that chip and tune done, you will be smokin them big time......

My mate had an EF wagon that he drove all the time (belonged to parents) and it NEVER arced em up from a stand still.

Have you ever tried stalling your auto up then dumping it? I know your box is on its way out for lunch, but that would be the only real way to tell....

get the manual dood. with 3000rpm and a decent drop of the clutch she'll smoke em. :)
