G'day all,

just got a set of 19" rims for my ba Xr... just noticed though, I have a major speedo error as a result (as expected when moving up from 17" to 19")...

How and where can I get this adjusted? will ford do it? And who's the best for this in Sydney?!

This recalibration will have to be done by Ford, or someone who has cracked the ECU. BA falcons have no speedo sensor in the drivetrain. They pick up the speed signal from the ABS circuit.

how can you tell you have a "major speedo error"?

cause on the highway to canberra, you have the speedo checks... and it consistanly was about 100 meter short every kilometer...

Also I tested the car on 17's... fuel consumption was 11.2/100 on the highway.... with the 19's 12.3/100 was the best i got... that and the distance travelled to canberra was about 30kms short on my speedo... like when you see, 150kms to sydney then you see 130 to sydney... my car said I've only done 15kms... not 20...

I was quoted $250 to "fix" the problem and chip the system... is this reasonable? Thanks all...
