I replaced the engine(3.8) in my daughters 92 Tauraus. The engine came out of a 1990 Continental. The engine bolted up good and it turns, by hand. The problem is when I try to start it the starter just clicks like the bendex is bad. It's a new starter the battery is fully charged all the wiring and everything else checks out. Does the starter have to be shimmed, I never had this problen before I replace the engine.

CHeck the current return path , is the motor grounded correctly back to the batery ?
you are sure the startes is good ?

check the stater selinoid on the fender well drivers side check all the connectons on that
