Im more than likely going to be starting my EL engine in the next few days. The last time it was started was arround March/April. Is there any procedures i should follow before attempting to fire it up?

Priming the oil system?
Over filling the oil system?

i was thinking

(1) slightly overfill the oiling system
(2) crank the engine arround by hand for a few turns
(3) crank the engine over with no spark/fuel for a few seconds
(4) start the engine properly.

Is this on the right track?

Use a remote start switch & crank away for about 10 secs, 2-3 times then start as normal

the fuel has probably gone off and started to gum up i'd add fresh ULP.. other than that adding oil to lube the valves isn't a bad idea .. i dont like your chance of turning it over by hand ..

yeah, show it no mercy!

if you're super worried, pull all the plugs and put a dash of oil or proper cylinder-lube stuff down there... but it will be fine - my paddock car regularly goes 6 months without starting... never any trouble (but it is a Holden...)

Squirt some (not a lot 10ml will do - too much will plug the cat) Redex or other upper cylinder head lubricant into each plug hole first and add some to the fuel tank as well.

The engine is dormant, but the fuel system is fresj (el engine into my ea)

Ive lubed the cylinders with a bit of oil, and yeah ill just kick it over.

i was oversease 7months and i couldn't wait to come home and kick my EF in the gut's.... as soon as i got home I got they keys and after 2sec of crancking away she went .... 20min later i blew rear tire doing burnouts. Those european ppl got no idea what a big I6 can do :) pissy little VW and Audi and BMW 1.8L milk cartons ... did I mention Skoda? and shitty Renaults? yuk... kick her in the gut's she will love it
