just got a bit of a problem with my steering, sometimes it will become really stiff and hard to turn, as if i had no power steering! problem is the power steering fluid is full, the tyres arn't flat or down at all and i don't know what else to check! has this happend to anyone before? cuz its got me stumped.
By the way i have an EB 1 fairmont i6.
is the belt tight? is the pump noisy when u turn the steering wheel? what colour is the fluid? does it mainly happen at low rpm or high rpm?

The belt im not sure about, pump not noisy, fluid is perfect and its alot harder at low rpm but its also hard at high rpm, could it be my rack and if so how hard are they to replace
Yeah thats what a few of my mates said i think its from the doies:( cuz thats when it all started playin up while i was havin fun in my mates padock do you know how much they are to replace
cheers
i should of added this in before but i also have an autotecnia steering wheel on and the mechanic said the boss kit wasn't the right size! could this be the problem? i have had it on for a while and at first there were no dramas so im stumped.

Make sure it is not the bearing at the bottom of the steering column. Disconnect the joint between the bottom of the column and the rack, turn the wheel and check for binding. New column about the $300 mark. Bearing (unfortunately) is non replaceable, and is a common problem.

Have you taken the power steering pump cap off while the engine is running, sometimes they suck air and create an air lock which can cause some weird noises, if its the rack they usually make some creaking noises,
