suggestions

Hi all

I have just bought myself an EL Fairmont wagon, and I am about to do some modifications to it.

Firstly, I wish to gain more power

Secondly, I wish to lower it.

Questions: I have contacted Pedders here in sunny Melbourne, and they have a very good lowering "kit" which utilises the original front springs, and retains the suspension travel. The problem is that the total price is near to $700. (this includes resetting the rear springs) Is ther anyone out there that has either experience of the "kit" and can comment on it, or can suggest any other suspension experts to contact re lowering ideas.

The second question is: I have contacted a crowd called Jim Mock Motorsport, and they also have some very good ideas, and say that they can get 125 kw (at the rear wheels) by adding an exhaust system and certain sparkplug type. Again money is an issue. This will cost up to $900. Is there anybody with experience of these people, and/or other suggestions as to who to contact regarding exhaust systems here in Melbourne, that can give similar guarantees ? This Jim Mock crowd guarantee the power gain .

Any thoughts and advice would be appreciated

Mark

Re: suggestions

Do a search for Jim Mock Motorsport, or JMM. There are thousands of threads about them.

Can't help with the lowering, sorry.

Re: suggestions

Try whiteline for the springs shocks etc
Do it all at once just save a little longer and get the whole works kit. Spings shocks sway bars bushes. If you can afford it swap the whiteline shocks for Koni ones.

JMM know their stuff end of story

Re: suggestions

Thanks for the replies, I think I will be going with JMM. After a lot of research, they seem the best, but not actualy the cheapest.

I think I will be going with Pedders for the suspension. $750 for their kit, as against $1300 for Whiteline. I think I wil get just as good a result. I have done a lot of research over the last day, and that is what it boils down to.

thanks again

Re: suggestions

If the $750 includes new springs and shocks it's a decent price. If not, you can get it for that price with a bit of shopping around. Springs are just over $200, shocks just over $300, and installation maybe $120 depending on who you know.

Re: suggestions

Whiteline offers a kit that includes shocks and springs for around <$1000 fitted. Add another $600-800 or so for sway bars, bushes etc. Worth a geezer. I'm considering it for my ED...
