Synthetic. Less impurities, less engine wear. Also depends on the condition of the engine. Synthetic is probably only good until 200,000km or so, after that you need a thicker mineral oil.

Mineral, it's cheaper, and both should be changed at 5,000 k's, so the extra expense is not warranted IMO.
Although if you live in a very cold climate, synthetic would be the better oil.

What for? Synthetic for gearbox, mineral for diff, I prefer mineral for engine but that's just personal preference. My engines normally break before they wear out, so there goes that argument.

I use mineral for the donk, synth for manual trans and LSD.

I don't see the point in spending the extra $$'s for engine synth,k the supposed extra power is hardly noticable, engine longevity may be better but even with mineral you will easily get 200,000k's plus from an engine and at this point the rest of the car is pretty much shagged anyway.

Synth in gearbox simply because I played around with oils to get a nicer shift and a Mobil synth just happend to feel the best in the T5.

synth in diff as these LSD's seem to be quite tight, again experimenting with oils and Redline synth gave the smothest LSD operation.

mineral, as mentioned above, extra price isnt worth it as long as its changed regularly, or you dont live in alaska
