Hey all, Umm don't know how much this has come up (im pretty new to this site) but i am in the market 4 a new fan for my EA Falcon S. I want to get a thermo fan but have heard that you need an ECU that supports one eg. an ECU from an EF falcon. This true? Any info from anyone would be kewell! Cheers.
There is a conversion kit for EA-ED's which uses EF thermo fans and switch. You dont need the ECU, its all operated by a temp switch and relays ( as far as I know ) there are a fair few guys on here who have done it, so they should be able to help you out a little more than i can

Barry's kit is by far the best and neatest kits available. I run the Davis Craig one which retails for about $40 and that works fine too. It has a temp probe which sits in the upper radiator hose and a switch mounted somewhere under the bonnet. You can then set what temp you want the fans to come on at.
the fan would sit where the normal fan sits; you remove it from the water pump and lose the shroud. im running EF fans in mine and bought a thermoswitch wired them up myself, took all of about an hour. you dont need a kit unless youre lazy :p
yeah, i ment the thermo switch was about $40. You can either use the EF/EF fan setup which looks good, or get some of the larger Davis Craig fans which move much more air, but don't look as neat as the factory ones. As galapogos01 said, the fans mount between the radiator and the engine.
My mate has done it to his P6 LTD. Ive seen the Dyno charts for before and after and he gained 15hp. (about 10kw)
Ive heard claims of 20+kw but i havnt seen any proof!
