Im looking at buying a newer falcon as my daily driver and was thinking of getting an AU Falcon. Just wondering if anyone has had or heard of any problems with them. If anyone has any info however small it would be great

If buying a ute make sure the Exhaust doesn't rattle that happened to me. I couldn't really help it I bought it from QLd and the roads are pretty good up there thus i couldn't hear the rattle till i got home.

Other than that the only other little thing I have had was the auto Aerial wouldn't go all the way back into the body. Will get ford to fix it next service.

mate i would look at getting a series 2 or 3. the AU prices are really good now so you can afford to shop around, there are just so many of them. if you go a ute they tend to be cheaper and usually easier to get a 5speed. but everyone knows that. i have only had one problem with my ute and that is the oil pump crapping itself into a zillion pieces. that can be put down to my driving as i tend to break stuff anyway.

I'd also suggest going with an AUII (preferably late edition) or AUIII. Why? Big improvement in brakes, thicker firewall, darker and classier interior, styling all round was improved. You'll find even for the Late Edition AUII's the kilometres should be pretty low.

Things to look for sedan wise are possible signs of rust in and around the boot area as this collects a fair bit of water when the car is washed. Also check that the spare wheel bay isn't also flooded. Also check to make sure that all seals around all the windows especially near the rear doors and windscreen are in good nick.

Mechanically things to look for in and around the engine bay include checking the quality and quantity of the coolant (which should be green in colour.) The AUII's had a cooling system recall so make sure it has been done if you decide to go AUII.

Also check around the steering components particularly the steering rack/pump and test drive the car - make sure the steering doesn't feel untoward. Simultaneously keep your ears out for any knocks from the shocks or strut towers. Brakes should feel firm and positive with very little if at all fade on AUII/III's.

Umm, what else, yeap other little things include making sure the radio aerial goes up/down and not stuck halfway, the lights in behind the dash and the clock work, the power windows wind down and go up at roughly the same speed.
