Throttle

Took my 05 Expedition to many shops with no luck. Took it to the dealer today and they ran diagnostics and said it was the throttle body so they changed it but it did not fix it. It has the throttle wide open all the time like we have the gas pedal to the floor. So it is stacking gears. They said the computer is good and even updated it. The TBS is good. What else can it be?

Re: Throttle

My first guess would be the throttle positiion sensor but Im guessing you are referring to that with the TBS is good. Maybe the pedal itself is a problem or maybe there is an issue with the Cruise control.

Has there been any new electrics fitted recently. I have heard of one person that fitted a mobile phone system to an explorer that had one of the power wires tapped into a cruise control wire. The thing stayed at part or wide open throttle on the highway and almost ended badly.

The dealer should have been able to sort this issue out really and don't go driving your vehicle until this is correctly sorted.

Re: Throttle

More detail if you have it. Codes? What do you mean stacking shift? Usually when it stacks shift all the shifts happen real quick and lower rpm.

Re: Throttle

No codes, not even a check engine light. Yes when it goes to shift from 1st to 2nd it shifts to all gears at once. When you are at about 40 it surges. Going to a different dealer today to see what they say
