Tiptronic Circuit for EF/EL Auto's
Just looking through the Workshop manual for EF's, and came across the idea of a simple tiptronic style system for the BTR's.
Hydrauliclly, the only difference between shifting from 1,2,3, and D, is that when the lever is positioned in 1, Engine Braking is applied by bypassing the OWC on overun.
The rest of the transmission lever sends a discreet resistance to the ECU, giving the Gear Lever Position.
I have come up with a simple electrical circuit, which will change a resistance value, based on the operation of two buttons, Gear up, and Gear Down.
So the theory is to trick the Transmission into thinking that you have Manually selected gears, by using these discreet values, instead of the actual Gear lever position.
Anyway, I havent tried this theory out yet, but was wondering if anyone could see any possible problems, flaws, faults, or anything that I should be concerned about, before starting on this ?????
