i have an el gli but its an ex cop car so its got the good dash and a clock where the trip meter goes.my question is if i fit a trip meter will it be a plug and play or will i have to run the wiring for it?im asking cos i thought havin the good dash i mite have the good harness with the trip connection there.

Yep, pull the clock out and there will either be another plug there (similar to the one that plugs into the clock but with more wires), or a whole stack of wires that just end - if thats the case youll need to add the plug yourself.
Odds are if its got the high series loom though, it will have another plug which makes it a very simple operation of simple pulling out the clock and replacing it with the TC.
All low series falcons, including XR's had clock wiring.
To fit the Trip computer you will need the Fairmont plug and about a foot of the loom.
