just bought a te cortina it has a worked 250 xflow.i need some help deciding on wether to turbo the six or put in the v8?the car is a weekend warior any tips apreciated (cheers matt)

I would turbo the crossflow. I love the whole concept of turbos. Especially in cortinas! It would be an animal! But really do whatever you want cause its your car.

entirely a subjective question.. nothing beats the sound of a V8 but a T4.0 would be far easier.
I would take the 351 but in the end what appeals to you the most is the correct choice.

i want both?ive never built a turbo car before and im thinking of the cheapest way for big power! option (1) turbo 250 estimate custom manifold $800. t04 reco turbo $1000 then computer to run it another $800-1000 bucks before i touch the engine.option (2)build a 302-351 mild windsor and the cost is endless?not sure witch way to go as im a v8 man seeing plenty of turbo 250s around that go hard and these motors are dirt cheap.and can anyone point me to any sites on net on turbo 250xflows for a bit of research.(cheers matt)

There's a few trubo Xflow owners on this forum already. Bare in mind you will need more than just a turbo, manifold and computer. If it's not already EFi, that's a good idea. Intercooler $1000+. All the other fiddly bits and pieces like hose's etc. It all tally's up in the end.

Or, just keep an eye out for a 2nd hand already turboed 250. I found one in the auto trader for $2000, everything included, recent rebuild, just needed a bigger intercooler.

Well there is no substitution for cubes.

But the turbo six should not require engineering as opposed to a V8 conversion, so is a more straight forward project.

A turboed 6 can and may cost more to do than the V8. I've met an XF owner that ran 10.84 his engine built cost was about $15,000. It's more a matter of how much money do you have and do you want to go fast?
