General TechHave a question that is not covered by one of the other categories? This is the forum for all other items not specifically covered in other categories.
I just had my 30000k service at Brad Garlicks. I am most happy with their care and service and had only a few niggly issues to get fixed but my main gripe for a new car was my Bonnet Insulation and the plastic Tickford Engine Cover. I asked to get these replaced under Wty.
Picking up the car last night I was informed they did not replace these items as the Warranty officer said hold on, he is waiting for Ford to give the approval as they said this will happen again without a fix it answer which I agree entirely.
The insulation rubs on the Engine cover in 2 places leaving black marks and in time will end up being permanent also there is rubbing at the rear of the engine in turn cutting through the insulation.
Is this common on your cars ? If so I'll back off but to me to lift the bonnet of your beast and see these witness marks looks crap and I don't believe they design these items to rub.
Any help will be appreciated.
Cheers

Bluedriver....i have one mark on my insulation from a hose clamp on the passenger side....it hasn't got too bad in the 3 years i have had it from new...so i am not particulaly worried
however, if it was marking the engine cover...then i would be getting the service department to explain why and replace if it is due to a faultly fitting. if it is caused by a clip coming away, then that will be due to wear & tear and probably not covered,
the insulation under my bonnet has been wearing, mines an EF but its still there and doing it.
it looks a little shit, but nothing i'm worried about.
then again i don't have any nice looking engine cover either :)

I have an AU forte V8 with the XR8 engine cover (with all the proper brackets etc) and it rubs. I used some leftover "light skinz" to help fix this (just stick a bit about 2 inches long to the highest part of the engine cover).

I think you will find it depends on the car, My XR doesn't rub in either of the two positions, (build 11/2000) yet my brothers XR has rubbed in both, (05/2000)
My 2 cents as well
