I got my old 6 250xflow back the other day and today I tried to get the head off to see what condition it is in.
I got all the rocker gear out okay but I cant move the head bolts. They are too fricken tight. Dad tried as well he couldnt budge them either.

Is there an easier way?

You could try to heat them up with an oxy, lots of wd40 or a longer bar for more leverage.

Yeah you just need a long bar and some bloody strong muscles. Heating the up like 351efiXF said might help, but I would be carefull with WD40 on engine internals. If that stuff gets into the oil, you can have major engine problems later.

you just as EDXR8 says need a longer bar slid over the ratchet<--- don't use a ratchet to actually crack the bolt i can't think of the name of the tool but it is a 1/2 drive socket head on a bar????..more mechaincal advantage makes it an easy job..then get the ratchet after you have cracked the bolt

also make sure the socket is a PERFECT fiting, good quality Hex head. Anything else will result in rounded head bolts/sockets.

ahh for the life of me I couldn't remeber the name of it..drew a mental blank. Yes pipe over a breaker bar..

I used an air impact driver socket to undo my bolts. The sockets are thicker and don't distort as much.

I did need a long bar and plenty of muscle though! And I did use a bar and not a ratchet.

There is a bloke at the Wantira market that sells 3ft long breaker bars for $30.

I think your close enough to there for that to be useful!

I'm yet to find a bolt that mine can't undo... but fortunatly I'm yet to snap one in half too!
