General TechHave a question that is not covered by one of the other categories? This is the forum for all other items not specifically covered in other categories.
The first one appears to be an complete replacement to the EEC4 (ie... similar to a motec), and the 2nd one is an interceptor... ie it is placed BEFORE the EEC4. (same as the unichip)
piggy back systems (such as powerchip and chiptorque) are not real time programmed, as the above ones are, and cant be tuned specifically for the car.

If you want to spend your money on computers you are better off
going for MOTEC...it is moreeee reliable and you can get ALOT out of it..sure its a grand dearer but its worth, stop toying around with powerchip and chiptorque!!!
MY 2c worth!!!

The Xtreme thing is just an aftermarket ECU which will plug straight into the stock harness. Much like the Speedbrain(pile of shit!) but better quality. It's a lot coin at $1000 U.S. though.
The Crane Interceptor(PMS) is a Piggyback device that plugs in between the harness and EEC. As piggy back devices go it's one of the better ones but it still doesn't cut it in the end.
Sure Motec is good but it'll cost you a hell of lot more than $1000 more to stay sequential and Mass Air if you want to use Motec. Besides who wants to put GM shit sensors all over their Ford!?
BTW the EEC is more reliable by design than Motec. In fact I converted a 351W street rod back to EECIV from Motec and the guy has never looked back and he's realised far superior driveability and more power to boot! It took two hours to tune it too!
You're right forget chiptorque and powerchip......
EEC-Tuner is King!

Pete.
I agree!!!
I would love to get an EEC tuner, but a lack of local knowledge in this, made it not a very feasible idea.
I have 2 well known performance car places (that specialise in modern v8's) very very close to me. One promotes chiptorque, the other promotes unichip. Besides the fact the the unichip is real time programmed on the dyno, the place I went with have AUXR8 utes (all 347's) as there work cars!! They love there fords!!

OK, I think it is agreed that this is the only way to go. I want to go this way too, but like xr6chic, don't have the knowledge or know anyone who does (locally). At the moment, the chip works and was the cheapest way to go.
xr8chic and I have the same mods (basically) and I think we are chasing the same thing. I have gone for the 'Chiptorque', where as she has gone for the 'Uni Chip' and as far as I know we are still making the same power, 150 rwkw. Correct me if I am wrong.
Does anyone in Melbourne re-program the EEC4?
Oh and 'chiptorque' isn't the best. I know, but it is what I could afford and at this point is working as good as 'Uni chip'.

Ahemmmm not to step on ya toes there Kell but the "Chiptorque Module" can actually be tuned in "RealTime".. Although it maynot be the best out there at the moment, and took nearly 6mths before a "technician" came out to W.A. to do it Im still satisfied, Although Im seriously considering this EEC Tuner........

To throw a spanner in the worx. Iff you don't buy a bigger maf and save up tp $4-500. You could put that towards a Heltech,E.M.S,Wolf 3d,Motec tho exp,Link and others. Take $500 off the price of the haltech or whatever?ecu, for the maf you are nearly paying the price you would for pigyback system, almost!!...Those computors don'y use maf they use map as in IL6...
