I was driving alonge today and I noticed that their was like this thump under my left foot everynow and then so I turned the music down and I have somehow developed a loud tapping noise somewhere under the car it could be one of the front wheels but I think it would more likely be a pipe or something under the car I had a quick look and wigled a few things around like the exaust and stuff. I am thinking it could be my cat soon as its no good its probably got all the stuff inside it rattling around??? perhaps....

its also got this turbo sound to it at the moment but I think that might be it sucking in air from where my engine leaks oil. dad took me for a drive in a work AU and it did the same thing but it didnt make the tapping noise so the two noises must be unrelated... I would like to get rid of this horrid noise soon as it annoys the hell out of me. does anyone know what it could be???? I have stopped driving it atm as I am afraid the front wheel might fall off or something lol

My cat died a week ago, and if you hold the rev's at about 1500, it rattles like crazy. does it thump when you back off the accelerator?

If so, then it could be loose engine mounts. This tilts the engine slightly which causes the exhaust to pull and knock the bottom of your car.

Get an exhaust specialist to look at your cat, or check the enginge mounts.
