What about an AU block and head into an EA?

Ok blokes I'll be getting my EA soon (still getting butt f#$ked by insurance/finance company) and I was wondering. I've got a mate that owns a Ford wreakers in lonsdale sa that can get me an ea block and head for $1000 or maybe even less if i bribe him.
Would it be worth putting this in to the normal ea multipoint setup?
It may only be a 15kw gain but I understand the Au motor has much stronger internals and may stand up to a turbo a little better than an aging EA setup.
Whatda reckon?

Good idea but;

The AU has a cast sump that will require crossmember mods to fit but it can apparently be done and the AU uses coilpacks so no coil/distributer which you have now.

These should be of interest to you;

Thanks for the links.
I don't think I'll be doing anything as complicated as what that guy did.
Most likely just the block an head and leave the ea sump where it is.
Won't bother with all the electrical crap I just want a stronger motor for the turbo I figure that for $1000 I get a better deal than the $2000 or so I'd need to spend to strenghthen the current motor.

I don't think it's that simple.

The AU six has cross bolted mains that are bolted through the cast alloy sump. Same as on this sketch of the new BA engine;
