What is Duratec

I bought a 2004 ford fiesta and im wondering what exactly is Duratec.
Is it a type of variable valve timing? please clear this up :) thank you

It's a "brand" name Ford use for the engine. No real significance to it as far as I know, similar to Holden's Ecotec, Alloytec, etc.

Yes its the name of the variable valve timing motors. My foci had it first but now ford use it on nearly all new euro/US 4/6cyls with vari'cams. Even some deisels and gearboxes have the Dura name now... It just ford lingo now, pity!
