The only thing this gives you a clue about is the model the Head was designed for , in this case it was whatever model Ford designated as a 96DA (EL series was released in this year, which is why I stated I thought it maybe off an EL, however they also released the XH in that year so it could be off one of these, the AA at the end of the code relates to the design level release, ie most times a product design is updated it gets bumped, AA goes to AB and so on, some parts I've seen floating around for a while have even got to "B" series.
It's a bit disconcerting when I work on my ute to find parts with 84DA, thinking thats getting to be quite an old design.
