blown EF 6

I have fitted a late model head to my EF and now I am curious what it came off? The head is a 6 cylinder head with a casting stamp of 96DA-6090-AA. Any help will be appreciated.

I think this would have come off an EL, 96DA designates the model year the part was designed for, all specifically designed parts for an AU have either WR2A,WR2For WR5A.

Yeah Jesmol thats what I thought, but I had a look at my brothers 97 EL and the head on it was a 94DA ..... AB the same as the head that came off my EF. Any other thoughts on this topic.

guys, those numbers are the approval number for the ford part. A wrecker I buy bits off used to work for Ford, and he says that was the number assigned to the part when it was approved for usage in a motor vehicle. Sadly, it doesnt give any clue to when it was made..

The only thing this gives you a clue about is the model the Head was designed for , in this case it was whatever model Ford designated as a 96DA (EL series was released in this year, which is why I stated I thought it maybe off an EL, however they also released the XH in that year so it could be off one of these, the AA at the end of the code relates to the design level release, ie most times a product design is updated it gets bumped, AA goes to AB and so on, some parts I've seen floating around for a while have even got to "B" series.
It's a bit disconcerting when I work on my ute to find parts with 84DA, thinking thats getting to be quite an old design.
