What type of damage will this do?

nite all how is everyone?

this morning i filled up at the local BP and thought i filled the car with ultimate, but as the desk clerk said, i really filled my car with unleaded.

i was hoping it wasn't going to be a big problem cause i still had 1/4 tank of optimax (i was swapping to ultimate to see the difference). i took the car out for a drive this arvo only to find when i hit the topend...about 5000rpm the car seemed to loss power, pinging a think abit.

i was hopping if i stayed of the gas all week and it would be ok. or should i empty the tank and refill it.

what type of damage will running the car on unleaded do?

thankz for the help

ben

E-series Falcons are designed to run on normal unleaded but I see you got the Dev4 which is probably chip tuned.. However unless you have increased comp ratio I don't see it being a problem to run lawnmower fuel - just stay on the slow side of 4000rpm till you refill...

Running it on unleaded wont cause any problems.
The only thing that will eventually cause problems is if you keep pushing it and it is pinging, you might melt a piston, as EB's dont have knock sensors, they will just continue to ping, ie the ecu will not remove any timing.

Just drive it around till its down to 1/4 and fill it with premium.

Funny enough, mine seems to go a lot harder on regular unleaded than premium, even after an ECU reset - try figure that one.....

Just top up with ultimate when ever you can and keep off it for a while... Just a little..
