My money's on the Cleveland.
As far as I'm concerned the only failing the Clevo has is the oiling system and the short(ish) conrods. Both of which can be easily sorted out.
Windors have very poor heads, piss weak blocks, and the cranks are also pretty lousy.
Of course once we start making serious mods, usually a hybrid of the two can make a very nice engine.
Another extremely good engine from Ford was the 429 'Shotgun'. Beautiful hemi heads, with a super strong bottom end, yada yada yada....
i dont mind the windsor
my mate has one and gee it moves

Cleveland's got my vote. Stock they are better, worked they are better - in performance, longevity and looks. They are better engineered than the Windsors. I think the only anomoly that gives people a different perception is Windsors are used in Fords current line up. But this is only because of economics and logistics, ie what tooling was available, weight and total v width.
Windsor lighter more bolt ons available,Plus a 351 W can be stroked more..Plus efi plus roller cams on latter models..Both Fords don't care really, horses for courses....

Re: whats better?
i am mainly interest in performance of each and the strength,
it's interesting to see the windsor getting a small lead on the clevo.
cheers.joe.

Rick.
Who told you that the blocks are shit on the windsors...maybe this late model crap but not the old style D4 and earlier castings...With all these new stroker cranks floating around I know which one I would choose and it's not clevo...heavy & not much aftermarket support for them.. 4V heads are too big and 2V heads only flow up to 5600-5700rpm and around $450-500bhp (fully ported).
