I have an ED fairmont that has 120,000kms on the clock.

I've noticed lately that the a/c seems a little too warm for the temp setting of 21 degrees. The fan speed seems too high too long trying to cool the car down as well.

In the day time the air is cool but not cold, and at night its a little cooler but still not very cold.

I even sat in the car carport at night and set it to 19 degrees and it didn't get any colder.

Does this mean I need to regas the a/c ??

How much am I looking at?

Could it be anything else? - There is a loud hissing noice in the passenger firewall when the a/c is on that wasn't there when I bought the car. Is the A/c leaking??

In my case, the air con simply stopped being cold. I can't recall how much it would cost, but I paid $160 or so to get the whole system converted to R134a. The ED introduced R134a as standard, so doesn't need converting.

I get that hissing noise too - I hope it's normal.

did you look through the eye glass on your reciever dryer if you have heaps of bubbles it needs a service if thats any help

look for a black cylinder on the front of your radiator

If the gas is low, you hear a hissing noise alot from under the glove box. If your out of gas completely the compressor won't click in, you'l hear it? or you can just press the valve on the air con, canister. you'l hear the gas come out. Thats the cylinder looking thing in front of the radiator. A stardard regas for R134a, is round $65-70

ok sweet - well my hair dryer thing doesn't have a peep hole

I looked on my mates EBII and it has one, but my ED is different.

I'd say the gas is low, cause it just aint that cold.

Also its screwing with the base idle, in Auto mode is making the car idle at 900rpm in park and 800 in drive. But if you urn the a/c off but leave the clim/contr on it idles at the right 600 in drive and 700 in park.

Whats doin there?

Ok, I am convinced its the Gas thats gone, so I getting it regassed, gonna cost $99 with dye to see if it is leaking.

I'm lucky though if it is something bad like condesor etc, cause its all covered by my warrenty.

$99 isn't too bad?

Fixed the idel prob and got the car regassed. Bloody brilliant now, thanks for your input guys.

I'm going to go cool some beer down in the car...
