are the bottom bolts on the rear shock absorbers so inconsiderate...

i tightened them up, after changing shocks, put everything back together, test drive it, and what a suprise, rattles..... happens everytime i've done it, allways have to retighten... I know i have the worlds crappiest tools, most bent and busted, but its a pain in the ass....

Did you tighten them (the first time) while the vehicle was on the ground ie with vehicle weight on the suspension?

Join The Club, Back in 1999, put new shocks on (while on ramps) followed the book with NEW TOOLS. Thought all was OK.

My wife and kids got from Coffs Harbour to about Gunnedah (500Km) with a loaded boot (I had to stay back and work) when the rattle started.

So young Luke (who is now XR8 Fella) got underneath and did what he could on the side of the highway. What a pain.

When I put the adjustable Koni's on 2 years later, same problem.
But this time we weren't on a trip.

They must need to 'bed in' or something.

Do you have to tighten when you drop the jack?? I use to have that problem(rattles) so i just retightened with out the jack cause i was too lazy to jack it back up. I didn't even think twice about it.

The good book says that when torqueing any suspension or steering components the procedure should be carried out with the vehicle weight on it's suspension at normal ride height. So, after you locate the fastenings snug in position you place vehicle on the ground and rock it to settle the suspension then torque the fastenings to specs.

Real easy on a four poster but harder in your back yard eh?
