Hey y'all

the other night .... crusing with my ea; with the system pumping....then one note from a bassy song:

CRACK!...

there is a visable crack on my front windscreen which started coming from the rear view mirror....

do i have to replace the front windscreen or can O'Briens fix it?

plus, what will be the cost?

Seriously though one must wonder how your hearing will be several years down the track if you are sitting in a car with the stereo so loud/bassy that it will crack your windscreen :oo1: :dead:

Did you ever screw your mirror back in after it fell off? If you overtightened the bolt you probably put too much stress on the windscreen which finally gave way from all the vibration.

Exact same thing happened to me, mine took an entire chunk out of the glass!!! I just drive around without a rear view mirror now. HEHE funny that we both have Rockford fosgate gear :) Just curious what model sub/subs your running???

As LunaticSS said if it's not too big you can repair it, just do it quick before it gets worse.

its about a 30cm crack.

ive got a rockford fosgate HE2 12" powered by rockford 500s...

definately money well spent for that i can tell you.

I blame it on Nelly....his Bass notes are ridiculous at times.

doesn't sound like money well spent if it's going to cost you more and more.

imagin what you could have got for your motor with the money you spent on the sound system, and the money you are going to spend now....

sorry, but anymore than $500 for a complete sound system is a waste of money IMO... stuff doof doof, more grunt I say!!

Don't get me wrong though, if that's what you like that's all that matters... that your happy.

this also happened to me but not from the bass (altohough my car pumps some beats) but the roof rusts under the seal where the glass and roof meets, the rust builds up and puts preassure on the window, look at the seal and is u can se some rust near the seals that will be the cause, and it cost 300 to get the rust taken out

I managed the same thing in my little Toyota Corona some 8 years ago., but durring a sound off comp I blew the rear window UP!

But Seriously, if your havnt fixed it yet, tape both sides of the crack to avoid water getting into it!

A star crack costs around 90 bucks to fix, so i dare say your looking upto $150 bucks!

$150? A decent windscreen from a wrecker should be much cheaper than that - so maybe that's the way to go instead...
