xf gauges in to an ea
heya peeps,
i'm in the process of hooking up a digital dash to my ea
i have a digital tacho with a 10 stage shift light (ie 1 light per 500rpm and then 2 big lights at shift point) a digital speedo (not factory as it dosent display speeds over 199)
my question is
does any one know if you can install xf fuel/temp/oil/volts digital gauges into an ea
i would imagine so as they run the eec-v comp (both ea and xf)
it may sound weird but i reckon it would finish my dash better than standard needle/analouge gauges.
cheers in advance
joe

U will prolly have to change the oil pressure switch, as the XF ran just a light not a gauge and same with standard EA/Bs, the volts shouldnt be a problem, but the speedo cable will prolly have to be changed to be suited to ur gearbox and XF dash. I would just go for the EA/EB digital dash, all the wiring is there for that, and u get door open warnings etc, and besides how often are u over 200km really????

well he is rebuilding the car to run 10s, 25psi into a I6, and at the end of a quarter in a 10 second car, well, the extra numbers are interesting, to say the least...

CHEERS FOR THE INPUT VIGILANTE
the speedo is not a factory ford item it is onr that i am making myself and it reads up to 255kmph
and the tacho is also none factory and i am making it myself and it reads up to 9999rpm (not that i'll be reving that much)
the car is to be used in some circut racing as well as drag racing
in reguards to the head gasket i'll be using a metal 1 with o-ring head and block

only the EFI Xf's used the ECU btw but I'm sure you know that.
You shouldn't have to change much for the other gauges but I think your much better off getting after market for all of them if your building such a beast. the older guages are not known for there reliabilty and the oil pressure is very important to such an engine.
Go spend the dollars on some proper guages. I wouldn't worry about looks if your building a race/drag car.

cheers for the input carazy but
i want to build a tuff pro street car to strike fear into all the commo drivers on the gold coast
but i want to try and create a tuff pro street car with a modern flavour to it not like the old days where you have big and littles jacked rear susp massive lump v8 poking thru the bonnet getting 32lt/per 100km and have autometer gauges plastered everywhere (i espsecially hate them on the bonnet/cowl)
