I posted this yesterday but my post disappeared so here we go again.

I just bought an Xf for the bargain price of $700 with $300 worth of stereo and with a RWC.
BUt it doesnt have power steering and parking in the city is very cramped.
Is it hard to put power steering in from another XF??? Has anyone done it??
Also im not sre if my Car isunleaded or leaded it is an 85 XF gl and its engine code is X. I did a search and found nothing. Can someone help??

Personally I wouldn't bother with power steering, just keep the front tyres pumped up.

I don't know what was recommended for the XF, but I would run 95 unleaded. Does it have a catalytic converter, if if does, you gotta run unleaded anyway, but I reckon 91 octane is only good for little grey fergies. If you haven't got a cat, run LRP, it's about 96 octane.

Just my opinion.

It should say when you pull down the plate to expose the fuel filler. It will clearly say unleaded. besides, an LRP filler wont fit in properly.

Also, I'm pretty sure from 86-onwards was unleaded. So i'd be using LRP if i were you. Unless you know for sure its had the valves done on it.

Being an 85 it should be leaded - the unleaded model appeared mid?? 86. But of course that doesn't stop some one putting an unleaded motor in - and I'm pretty sure you are not forced to run a catalytic convertor if you do.

With the power steering it's a simple bolt out / bolt in job - you think your Falcon's steering is heavy - you should try a XD ESP with the 16:1 ratio steering box - now that's heavy - I'll be converting mine soon
