Hi,
I have a 99 AU I XR6 VCT and have noticed a ticking noise coming from the gearbox lately... I am currently trying to get the dealer to fix it but am wondering if anyone else has had the same/similar problem. The noise only starts when the car is warm and happens no matter what gear the auto is in. It has been checked by a mechanic friend who confirms it is coming from gearbox but is not game enough to diagnose the problem without taking the gearbox apart .. The car is under Ford warranty, which is why they are hesitant to fix it. It is not extremely loud, but noticeable.. Any help would be appreciated

every e series box ive listened to has a ticking type noise i dunno what it is but there is nothin wrong with mine and its done 160 thou with that noise

forget about it i say but if your worried take it to the dealer get it checked they will prob take your car for half the day then give it back to you saying that " our tranny specialist had a look at it and couldn't find anything wrong, electrics, oil pressure everythings ok."

No ticking noise on mine, so I would say that it's not normal and that you shouldn't ignore it.

Can't help with the diagnosis, but would be interested to know what the outcome is just in case mine ever develops the same problem.

I think you'll find it's just the solenoids operating. Nothing serious I don't think.
